Since July 2011, Sudan has been divided into two countries: The Republic of Sudan and The Republic of South Sudan. Relations between both nations are strained. This resource, developed before the division took place, looks at the geographically diverse landscape of these countries: sandy deserts, tropical forests, mountain ranges and swamps.
Pupils will look at cultural difference both around the world and within Ireland. They will be encouraged to explore the geography and cultural practices of other countries. This section also includes a map and a link to an article by David Eggers about the ‘lost boys’ of Sudan.
